Empowering Hasbrouck Heights: Building Together for a Brighter Future!
Mary Call Blanusa
Mary Call Blanusa is a dedicated advocate for Hasbrouck Heights, deeply committed to community engagement, education, and sustainable development. Born and raised in our town, attending Corpus Christi and Paramus Catholic, Mary returned here in 2007 to raise her two boys in the same vibrant community that shaped her own upbringing.
Mary's leadership and service in Hasbrouck Heights are exemplary. She has been an integral part of various community organizations, serving as an 8-year member and former president of the Junior Woman's Club. Additionally, Mary has been actively involved in local politics, serving as a Democratic Committeewoman since 2008 and as Municipal Co-Chair from 2009 to 2022.
Education advocacy holds a special place in Mary's heart. She has tirelessly worked to enhance educational opportunities for Hasbrouck Heights students, collaborating with schools and PTAs to develop programs like the Middle School Spelling Bee. Mary's dedication to education extends beyond our town; her current role as Director of Public Policy at The Alliance for Decision Education allows her to work with leaders nationwide to empower K-12 students with strong decision-making skills, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
During the challenging times of the pandemic, Mary demonstrated exceptional leadership as the Executive Director of the Northern NJ Community Foundation. Through her efforts, over $500,000 was raised to support local organizations addressing the impacts of COVID-19. Mary's innovative approach also led to the establishment of fiscal sponsorship for the Hasbrouck Heights Green Team, facilitating grant funding for environmental projects in our town.
With over 20 years of experience in public policy at both state and federal levels, Mary brings a wealth of expertise to the table. Her work is deeply rooted in a commitment to building a more equitable education system and empowering young people to make informed decisions about their futures.
Mary Call Blanusa's vision, dedication, and proven track record make her an ideal candidate for Hasbrouck Heights Town Council. Let's join Mary in shaping a brighter future for our community together.
